Announcing ‘The Whistle and Hum House Concert Tour’ July–August 2013
July 2013 marks the start of Anna van Riel’s eight-week long American Whistle and Hum House Concert Tour. Kicking off in British Colombia, Anna and her husband-crew man Lochlan will journey down through the North and Mid-West United States, documenting her adventures and performances along the way.
With the intention of creating a unique, musical documentary, the Whistle and Hum film will showcase all elements of Anna’s tour from inception to completion. The film will be used to inspire other artists to think outside of the box when planning their own overseas endeavors.
To promote the release of her latest album Whistle and Hum and to further develop her international audience, Anna will be headlining a series of house concerts along her route. These performances will take place in eco-conscious and environmentally friendly earth homes.
Through her quirky folk, bluegrass and cabaret influenced music Anna will bring awareness to the importance of sustainability as well as compiling information on cleaner ways to build, live and eat.
On her return to New Zealand, Anna intends to establish a mentoring program for fellow New Zealand artists. Using her experience and documentary footage from the Whistle and Hum House Concert Tour she will encourage and educate others on how to expand their horizons, tour overseas and use their own music to relay a message and increase their international appeal.
