House Concert a great success

Howdy ya’ll, Well, my house concert was a great success. My Daisy Dukes, Dom Stayne, Danny Fairley and Liv McBride made for the best bluegrass band a girl could wish for and even though it poured and poured people still braved the rain and made their way to the Nook for a concert I will always remember. We turned the tiny office into a mini cinema to showcase Ryan Larraman’s short film her made about my tour next year (http://www.indiegogo.com/whistle-and0hum). I’ve been reluctant to take the cinema apart as it’s such a cool space.

I had a great radio interview with Radio Wanaka last Thursday and after the show I went the Supermarket to busk and hand out flyers for the concert. A touristy couple stopped to listen and then asked what I was up to. I gave them a flyer and it turns out they were my wwoofers for the following week. I invited them to come the next day instead and they helped put the whole concert space together with passion and enthusiasm. Talk about serendipitous, I was driving home from Wanaka the next day and picked up a tall hairy hitcher who turned out to be a professional sound engineer from Tasmania. Needless to say his trip to the West coast was delayed by three days and the sound at the concert was incredible.

I was fortunate enough to have my dear friend Sumitra Birch from Byron Bay area come and stay with her husband Mana. She runs an open mic night over there which is where I met her and she opened the night with a great introduction and wonderful feel.

Thanks again to everoyne who supported and for all the wonderufl pledges to my campaign. Just 12 days left and plenty to raise so spread the word if you like what you see. There’s a link on my home page and in this blog.

I’ll be interviewed by Jim Mora today at 2:20pm on Radio NZ. You can tune into 101 fm if you’re in NZ or go to radionz.co.nz to stream it live.

Much love and thanks again to everyone for the love and support so far
