⚡️ FREQUENCY⚡️- Official Music Video Launch- AUGUST 30th
⚡️ FREQUENCY MUSIC VIDEO LAUNCH ⚡️
Things are gearing up with my team of videographers, animators and graphic designers, not to mention my beautiful star Tasmin, who is both my vocalist and actor in my soon-to-be-released single Echo.
In March this year I was exceptionally fortunate to be one of the first recipients for a new children’s music fund. What’s most exciting about this fund is that it will suddenly showcase the huge amount of fantastic talent we have in the children’s music sector here in NZ.
My song Echo has been tumbling around in my head for two years now, and Tasmin has even sung it at our local Hawea Playgroup Annual Fundraiser. It feels super exciting to bring it into real life, and something children can watch, hear and enjoy.
The Echo music video follows the story of a little girl who sees her wishing star in the winter sky, during our Maori New Years (Matariki). The star connects with her as she realises it’s her Grandfather that she has lost. She follows the star through an enchanted garden and to a magical treehouse where she finally can see it in all its splendour. My hope is that all children who watch the music video feel a connection to part of NZ’s culture, language and beliefs (*that our ancestors watch over us).
Echo is set to launch on October 1st in the lead up to the release of my 2nd studio album for kids Fishing for Stars, which will arrive just in time for Christmas.
Watch this space.

It feels so incredible to be able to begin this project without the massive extra effort of finding the funds.
This project will encompass a new children’s music video, for my children’s song “ECHO” starring my very gorgeous and talented neice Tasmin van Riel.
I’m excited to be working with audio engineer and producer Danny Fairley from Mirrors Studios again. Together we’ve already created two NZ Tui nominated albums (Whistle & Hum and Cooking up a song) and with Danny on my team I feel confident we’ll have another great album on our hands.
Animator Traci Meek will be collaborating on the music video, which will be filmed by videographer Ollie Larkin.
The storyline depicts a young girl who is sitting at her bedroom window star gazing.
One star in particular shines extra bright and calls her out into the wintery night.
The girl (Tasmin) makes her way through an enchanted garden and into her treehouse where she can get closer to her wishing star.
The sky shows the constellation of Matariki (aka pleiades) which corresponds with NZ’s Maori New Year.
I’m incredibly excited to kick of this project, and immensely grateful to NZ on Air for the opportunity. This new funding grant for children’s music feels like a hugely positive step for Kiwi Kids Music.
